Our animated honeycomb on the community house at Suurpelto becomes a landmark for the area and a symbol for the community.
We were commissioned to follow up our PowerPlant installation with an iconic digital art piece for a new Helsinki suburb.
More info about the Suurpelto project is here.
Attaching 2 metre panels to a very steep roof in freezing cold weather was tricky business. The installation is permanent and needs to withstand Finland’s severe winter.
Our lighting animations include nightly showcases at 7pm (at times of the year when it’s dark). We made all the animations with Pure Data, which was a lot more fun than I expected. Animations are controlled remotely and updated to reflect significant world events, for example Portuguese colours for their UEFA 2016 football triumph.
